Wigan 2 Birmingham 0

What a match! I have not seen us dominate a match like that in ages, Birmingham only got out of their own half about 7 times all match!

Up until the first goal the match was pretty even but after that Birmingham didn't seem to know what had hit them. Ryan Taylor scored both goals; the first being a fantastic left footed stirke the second one just bounced off him a yard out, but as they say: they all count.

Damien Johnson was sent off for a horrendous challenge on Kilbane, luckily he didn't get his standing leg. He should have been sent off earlier after an identical tackle on Mario melchiot.

Valencia and palacios were immense, Birmingham just couldn't do a thing with them all match, should we get a half decent strike force in summer we are going to be a force to be reckoned with. Ryan Taylor ran his socks off all day and went off to the biggest ovation i've seen all season, i bet he was still clapping in the shower after the match! Mario Melchiot was also outstanding, both at the back and going forward.

Oh deary me

Got the shock of my life this morning when i saw Paul Jewell shagging some tart all over the front of a down market rag! Aaarggh! Not surpised he lost his concentration at wigan! It's his kids i feel sorry for, i bet they're looking forward to going back to school. His wife i feel different about. Apparantly this whole affair happened just before he left Wigan and she didn't leave him, therefore i have very little sympathy for her now.

Yesterday we got beaten at Blackburn 3-1. Our defence looked shocking, so here i now start the official BRING BACK TITUS BRAMBLE CAMPAIGN. Chris Kirkland got injured so he is now also out of the England Squad to play on Wednesday. Blackburn scored the first goal, followed shortly with Wigan being awarded a penalty, good old Emile Heskey, knew he was good for something! Marlon King bagged but i bet my Green and Balcks easter egg that he won't score another all season, the lad couldn't find his arse with both hands! We lost Wilson Palacios in the second half for a second yellow, thankfully he'll only miss one match!

It was 'Super Sunday' today on SKY, hardly super but we all know what SKY are like with the 'big four' *rolls eyes* Man United beat Liverpool at Old Trafford 3-0, Mascherano got sent off for basically being a twat. Chelsea than beat Arsenal 2-1 at the Bridge. Arsenal seem to have lost the pace big time now and need to do something about their confidence and spirit, hardly the mark of champions is it.

"We've only got ten men....."

Wigan Athletic 1 - 0 Bolton Scumderers

12th in the league now, are we now classed as 'mid table'?

The biggest talking point of the match really was the referee. I very much doubt he'll be refereeing a premier league match again anytime soon so i hope he enjoyed it. Straight from kick off Emile Heskey got smacked in the face by the ball, soon as we kicked off again Koumas went in for a challenge and got sent off. It was the most farsical sending off i've seen in ages, and wasn't deserved at all. After that set back we adapted quite well. The referee got every decision wrong this afternoon for both teams, he really didn't have a clue. It's a good job the linesmen were there to make sure he got some things right.

We dominated the first half and were rewarded with an Emile Heskey goal, yes you heard it right, Emile Heskey scoring his 2nd in god knows how many games. He's lucky that Marlon Kings so crap and the flacks getting deflected off him for a while. Just before the goal we had a Paul Scharner effort 'cleared off the line' apparantly it was over the line but i'll have to see on MOTD later on.

Second half was a different story. Bolton came out the better team and threatened our goal quite a bit, the defence held steady though and Chris Kirkland made some great saves. Marlon King finally got subbed and was replaced by Kevin Kilbane. Good tactical move by Bruce as this left Heskey up front on his own and gave us a bit more steel in our midfield. We were never going to get another goal, the main aim was to stop Bolton scoring, and we did exactly that.

Good 3 points and pay back for that 4-1 drubbing at the Shitbok.

Baby Mia

My god daughter Mia was Christened today. She was very very good, even though we had to wake her up to go through the ceremony. She just sort of sat all day just staring at everything. She's a very nosy baby! She hardly cried at all apart from towards the end at the meal. She's gorgeous!

The ceremony was nice, not too long or preachy and the vicar was lovely. Mia wouldn't let go of her! The meal was scrumy i had melon and blackberry sorbet to start, roast beef and the biggest Yorkshire pud i've ever tackled and then chocolate brownie with red berries to finish. I was on a table with Charlene, Anton, Mia, Cheryl, Ste and my mum. We had the funnest table!

There were fun and games before the meal when Antons mum made a comment which Anton challenged her about, she then said she didn't even want to be there in the first place, so charlene marched over and told her to go, which she did with Antons brother in tow! Who needs entertainment!

Today there was also the small matter of a football match going on:

Wigan 0 - 0 Arsenal

Can you believe it! We['re now 13th in the league and two places above Newcastle! Cheer up Kevin Keegan.......

Bolton occupy the relegation places too, mwahaha!!

The match today was by all accounts a dull affair but who cares what the footballs like when your in this position.

Yesterday i bought a NINTENDO WII!!! Had great fun on Mario and Sonic Olympics and wii sports. My arms are killing me now though!

Man City 0 - 0 Wigan

Whoop whoop! Our unbeaten record against City continues. The match was dull though not many chances apart from Wilson Palacios right at the end who blazed over. This weekend we've got Arsenal at home and i can't go!!! :-( My friend is having her baby Christening who i am being god parent to at 2pm on Sunday and the match has been thoughtfully moved to 4pm on the same day. I was really looking forward to seeing Arsenal particularly Cesc Fabregas.

On the subject of the christening, i'm very excited. Got a lovely dress and bought some new shoes from Asda the other week a gorgeous cream patent colour. £12, bargain!

Not really much else to report. Work's boring, at the moment i'm researching Italy in preperation for our summer holiday. Rome looks amazing!

ciao!

Bored

Work is really boring today, it's my turn in student services and it's so quiet it's untrue. At the moment i am drooling over the new Fiat 500 and eating chocolate biscuits. Nice.

How beautiful is this car!? Wish i could get one.
I do like my 'green machine' though (although i'm sure i could get a good price for it) It's caused me no end of worry this week though. The starter motor went on Sunday and i had to be bump started home by the AA. Luckily i've got parts cover on my AA breakdown cover so i could get it fixed for free at one of their recognised centres. The nearest one is in Bolton so i got bump started again Tuesday morning and we took him in to Bolton. Just going down Dene Road into Bolton however and the engine completely over heated and started billowing smoke out of the bonnet, cue another phone call to the AA. They towed me to the garage and i was told that my head gasket may have gone. Cue virtual hysterics as the price of fixing this sunk in.
I spent all day Tuesday having people saying "ooo it might be time to cut your loses" etc etc, and me figuring out how i could get another car and my loan paid off without dipping too far into my savings until the bloke from the garage rang me back. My head gasket is perfectly fine, it's just low on anti-freeze!
It's now back in my possession and running like a dream. My radio and clock are buggered though :-( However they have put some WD40 in my locks. Whoop!
Got a day off work on Monday as it's Christophers birthday (i booked the day off, chris hasn't been promoted to a patron saint or anything) so i get a lie-in and a nice day off relaxing. Certainly need it at the moment!

Big Brother USA

Ok so i've watched this briefly in the past, but this year it's being shown on British TV, which means it's a must watch!

Now the American version of BB is completely different to the British version. There are no fame hungry show offs wanting to win over the voting public, here it's purely tactical and everyone is in it to win at any cost. Contestants compete for 'head of Household' which then means they choose who gets nominated for eviction. There is then a contest to win 'veto' which means the victor can choose to save one of the nominess if they wish. On eviction day each contestant is pulled into the 'diary room' to choose who they want to leave. The person with the most votes goes.

This year is different however. It's been named 'til death do you part' and each couple on arrival in the house was paired with someone who (based on answers to questions before they went into the house) could be their soulmate. So now each couple plays the game together, nominates together, and get's evicted together.....

The contestants:

Alex and Amanda

Ryan and Allison

James and Chelsia (my favourites!!)

Matt and Natalie

Joshuah and Sharon

Adam and Sheila

Parker and Jen

Jen and Ryan went into the show as a real life couple, the unwisely chose to keep this from the group but when the couples were announced they were paired with other people! All this came out into the open and ultimately, it got Jen and Parker evicted first.
Who'll be next to go? Keep reading my blog for the latest news.

Wigan Athletic 1 Paul Jewell 0

Wigan Athletic 2 Derby 0

A home tie today saw us beat Derby County (the worst ever premier league team) Scharner and Valencia the scorers. Now the script was all written for Derby to come to the JJB and beat us. With Ex Wigan manager Paul Jewell at the helm, no win in 21 games and a team that have virtually been relegated since October i was certain we'd lose.

The first half was pretty nonedescript, not many chances and not much happening, the second half was slightly better, Scharner got the first goal on 60 minutes with Antonio Luis Valencia scoring a peach shortly afterwards. Can't understand why Bruce won't drop Heskey. He's got an abysmal scoring record (1 goal all season!!) and tbh just doesn't look up for the fight, at least he's seen what a lazy shit Bent is and has dropped him for the only marginally better Marlon King. Sibierski got 10 minutes or so, but for me he has to be starting with King (the best of a bad bunch)

Best of luck to Arsenals Eduardo. He suffered a horrific broken leg today against Birmingham. Hope he makes as quick a recovery as possible and is able to get back to entertaining us once again whilst playing superb football with Arsenal.

Happy Valentines Day!

I've been a bit quiet on the blog front lately, but to be truthful nothing of note has happened!

It's half term this week at work so it's really quiet.

Last week we lost to Sunderland but still stayed out of the relegation places, phew! This weekend is FA cup 5th Round (something we don't have to worry about yet again) then we play Derby at home. That match sees Paul Jewell returning to the JJB and it could also make or break our season. If we win and other fixtures go our way everything could be looking bright and rosy!

Paul Jewells also been in the media this week moaning because Tottenhams secretary took the team sheet into the ref rather than a member of the playing staff. Freakin' Hell Paul! Concentrate on not getting relegated with the lowest points total ever eh?!

Re-reading that, it could come back to haunt me!

Tomorrow me and Chris are going to an Italian for a meal to celebrate Valentines. It's also out anniversary tomorrow, 1 year and 8 months together! Double celebration! Can't wait!

Book Review - Punk Football by Andrew Vaughan

"According to The Clash there was no Elvis, Beatles or The Rolling Stones in 1977. Maybe not - but there wa a silver jubilee, The Sex Pistols, Rock Against Racism, Buzzcocks, Pigeon Wars, Space Invaders, Bluto's and Wigan Athletics final season as a non-league football club"

This book charts Wigan Athletics final season as a non-league club in the 77/78 season against a backdrop of Wigan life in the 70's and a burgeoning Punk scene. The author tells tales from terrace fashion to massive cup ties against division 1 clubs to nights out at the now defunct Bier Keller and Wigan casino to the also defunct Unit 4 cinema in Pemberton.

The book is packed with funny stories, i nearly split my sides reading about the Invacars! He also gives an insight about what it was like to follow Wigan back in the 70's as no doubt one of the most famous non-league clubs, what Wigan nightlife was like, and who can forget the Pigeon Fanciers!

Overall this is an extremely well written articulate book from a man who is quite clearly passionate (and clued up) about both Wigan Athletic and Punk music, and is a fascinating insight into a time in history that i didn't get to witness first hand. Interviews from old favourites such as Noel Ward and (my mums favourite) Tommy Gore make the book a must read for any Wigan Athletic fan looking to piece together the history of their club.

Farewell

To Emily, who has resigned from the international office at work. She's gone back to America after the breakdown of her marriage, and i'm very sad to see her go. We didn't even get to say goodbye to her. She was a lovely lovely woman and i wish her all the best.

After threatening a few times in the past, today i finally had my hair cut into a bob. I just decided this morning whilst drying my hair that it was getting on my nerves and i finally took the plunge this dinnertime. It's really really nice and i'm so pleased with it. It's made my hair look so much thicker and my colour stands out more too. There was loads of hair on the floor when she;d finished!

England 2 - 1 Switzerland

What a crappy match. Now it was only a friendly granted, but it was the first game under Capello and he'd called up a couple of lesser capped players like Jenas and Bentley. I thought they both played pretty well especially Jenas, and Shaun Wright phillips came on later in the match and scored a good goal from some good build up play.

One thing though. Steven Gerrard. MOTM. Who the bloody hell votes for these things! and more importantly were the people in question even watching the match! Gerrard was completely ineffective last night and went missing for large parts of the game. He'd been made stand in captain whilst Capello asesess his options. Doubt Stevie La will have much of a look in now after that sort of a performance.

Also today the Premier League want to play some matches all around the world, places including America (surprise) Australia and the UAE (no doubt due to them opening that new celeb haunt in Dubai). Now this is preposterous. Every week there's some sort of player/manager/official stating that the players are playing too much and are nearing burn-out. Make your bloody mind up! Do you want the season extended or cut? It's one or the other. Soft arses.

Giddy Stratospheres

Wigan 1 - 0 West Ham

After a one nil win today we're 15th in the table! I feel slightly dizzy!

The match today was the worst i've seen in a while. First half no-one had a shot on goal until Zinedene Kilbane scored on the stroke of half time. We relied quite heavily on hoofs up to Heskey and didn't create much at all. Second half was a slightly different story. We kept West Ham pinned back, and whilst we didn't add to our lead, we didn't let them slip back into it either. Good battling performance but we seriously need to improve as we'll get found out against bigger teams than West Ham.

Chant of the day today was aimed at West Hams Robert Green. After the West Ham fans started singing "England number 1" and Robert Green started clapping them etc, we hit back quick as a flash "You're not even in the squad"

Special mention also to Portsmouth fans who i've been informed were chanting "One Cheryl Tweedy" to Ashley Cole. Ha serves you right for treating her you did you bastard.

Transfer deadline day

Well this is it, clubs have approximatly 4 hours to get any last minute signings in. Doubt there will be nymore at Wigan now although i wouldn't be surprised if one goes out in account of one (Marlon King) in.

The gossip columns in the local newspapers and on news sites are hilarious, my girlfriends nephews dads cousin etc etc and almost always they something ridic like Ronaldinho spotted in the DeVere Whites hotel in Bolton going over a 5 year deal. Some notable (serious by the way!) mentions today include:

- Benjani to Man City

- Defoe to Portsmouth

Erm..... and thats it really! Nothing especially exciting has happened, no big name players making mega moves, and no past it stars transferring to 2nd division clubs. Boring!

The transfer window gets critisised a lot, but i like it. Adds a bit of excitement into our lives in the miserable month of January when everyone (apart club chairmen obvs!) is skint, fed up and longing for sun. They're not daft arranging the African Nations Cup in January! It also gives us something to talk about in summer when there's no football to watch and everyone's eagerly awaiting the announcement of next seasons fixtures, planning who's birthday is going to be given a miss and which aways will be attended. Oohs and Aaahs as it turns out that coincidently the 'big 4' have all been drawn together on the same weekend and which matches will be tense on the last day. I'm all for the transfer window, what fun would it be if we could sign players every day of the week. What would be the fun in that!

Race for life 2008

It's that time of year again. I've entered the race for life again to help raise money for cancer research. I will be running in memory of my Grandad Thomas Crowden who is the most amazing person i have ever met. I feel like i am keeping his memory alive by raising money for a cause that means so much to all of us.

I don't want to be in the Championship :-(

We lost yesterday to Middlesbrough. If we want to stay up we need to be beating the teams around us. Marlon King made his debut but went off just after half time, not been confirmed if he was injured or just subbed but he went straight down the tunnel apparantly.

Oh well onwards and upwards as we used to say, West Ham at home on Saturday and hopefully a return to form for us on the crappy pitch of the JJB. West Ham will more than likely bring a large following and give us a tough match.

Today work's boring. Got a ruddy great puncture in my tyre yesterday so need to go and take my car to have a new one on. Got my spare on at the minute which is bright red in the middle. Looks like it's from Noddy's car!

Current situation...

We are 1 nil down at Boro. Not good. More to follow....

FA cup weekend

Wigan 1 - 2 Chelsea

We've been knocked out of the FA cup at the 4th round by an understrength Chelsea team. Not a surprise really, but at least we managed a goal. The pitch was a mess as usual (what is happening with the vare stripe across the length of it!) I'm surprised we've not been reported over it yet.

Also a busy Friday down at the JJB. We signed Marlon King for i'm sguessing 5 million. I'm not sure whether he's good enough, but we're just going to have to see how he goes. We certainly need a goal scorer. Fulham are reportedly going to come in with another bid for Scharner, which will probably see him go, to get the King money back in the warchest.

Derby 1 - 4 Preston

Now this is the one that i went to. My thinking being that it would be better watching Preston get beaten than Wigan. How wrong was i!? Preston ripped Derby apart and went in at half time 3-0 up. Derby we're very poor, and shame on their fans for booing Claude Davis en masse. Yes you may think he's shit but it's hardly his fault, maybe you should be making your feelings known to Jewell who's picking him week in week out. In the second half Derby seemed to wake up slightly and put a bit of pressure on, Rob Earnshaw scored to make it 3-1 but then Preston got back on top again, and just before the end got a penalty which Mellor put away.

Went to see the flat on Saturday morning, but wasn't impressed. It was very very small and every single surface was white. I know landlords have to have a sort of neutral decor but i felt like i'd walked into a mental ward! The c0mmunal area downstairs was full of rubbish too bags of empty beer bottles and cans. Quite obvious that the other 3 flats we're occupied by students, rather than the "young doctor and 2 girls" the estate agent stated.

The search continues....

One more out....

Denny Landzaat has gone to Feyernood. Gutted.

Really didn't see this coming, he's a great solid midfielder with the ability to score super goals. Think we'll really miss him. Good luck Denny :-)

It's also rumoured today that we're close to a deal for Marlon King, now Fulham had a bid accepted of 5 million so i'm guessing that we've bid that or maybe even higher. Not impressed, he's certainly not worth 5 million pounds, that just sounds like Watford trying to cash in, although if he goes and costs them promotion then 5 million is a drop in the ocean for them. I still think we should be looking for better quality players. I'd prefer us to go for Jason Roberts, who isn't happy at Blackburn and would more than likely cost half the price. He's a hard worker and also know what is expected at Wigan and what the set up is. Plus he's a fans favourite!

Tomorrow me and Chris are going to look at an appartment in Fulwood. I'm really excited as the woman who is going to show us round seems really really nice. The place is in a block of 4 in a really flash area and is owned by a doctor (always handy to live near one!) so hopefully we'll fall in love with it and manage to sort out moving in.

I'm so excited!

Arrgggh!

I've heard this song the last couple of times i've been in topshop, which is quite frankly amazing. Can't find out what it is though! So annoying!! Can't even think of any of the words to type in youtube :-(

RIP

To Heather Ledger who died today aged 28.

Fantastic actor, 10 things i hate about you = best film ever.

***Rant Alert***

Aimed at the silly bint at the Guardian who 'writes' about football, ironic really as she seems to know shit all about the things she's writing about.

Now this woman has written many things about us in the past, including a cracking one when we got promoted that was so factually incorrect it was laughable. Now after that one a lot of people actually wrote in to the Guardian calling for her to be sacked. Unfortunatly didn't happen and she's still spouting the same old shit, this time about the easy target that is Titus Bramble.

Now yes he has made two massive cock-ups that have both led to goals this season, but to go on about his chequered private life, which is obviously behind him isn't on. She obviously needs to resort to this as she knows fuck all about the actual game of football. Bramble's actually been a rock more than once this season, he's stopped more goals than i can remember, defended well, made some good runs and chipped in with some good goals. Don't let all this get in the way of your shitty ill-informed views though eh Louise?

Anyhow, fuck her, Titus probably turned her down at some point along the way ;-)

We forgot that you were here!

Wigan 1 - 2 Everton

I quite like Everton but their support today was one of the worst i've seen all season, i mean you know it's bad when we're outsinging you!

We played well today even though we lost, i think this match highlights the fact that we need another striker, as Heskey and Bent are alright when they get a chance but they don't seem to make chances fot themselves. New signing Wilson Palacios looked very good and will only get better.

First Everton goal came courtesy of one of 'those' Titus Bramble moments i'e he fell over the ball/missed the ball/passed it to the opposition. The second was a comedy of errors defensively. Both were pure lapses of concentration as we dominated for the rest of the match, but we really need to sort these out as we had the chance to move on up the table today and threw it away. Hopefully it's not two points lost come May.

Chant of the day:

"We won it 2 times, we won it two times, autowindscreens, we won it two times"

Bet not many teams in the Prem can boast that little record :-)

I'm going to be a godmother!

My best friend Charlene asked me to be godmother to her beautiful little girl Mia! I'm so excited! The christening is on the 9th March, don't know where though, i was too excited to find out any important details!

Need to find something to wear, seen a few lovely dresses, and also a lovely skirt in asda.

Decisions, decisions!!

Pilates

I've somehow been roped into going to a Pilates class at work next Wednesday with Tracey and Sharon, the thing is i'm actually quite looking forward to it now!

For those of you that don't know, Pilates is kind of like yoga and helps to improve posture allowing the spine to be properly supported and your organs (for want of a better word) unsquashed. It also apparantly can help to add 2 inches (!) to your height.

2 inches! That's it, i'm there!

It's all gone quiet over there

There being the JJB Stadium. So far in this transfer window we have signed a grand total of one player, and in accordance with Whelans 'one in, one out' policy Fitz Hall went to moneybags QPR. I hope Steve Bruce is just working extremely hard to get players in and not just sat around drinking tea with Brenda, we definatly need to improve the squad, as a few injuries and we're buggered. We need possibly another striker i'd say, and we're in desperate need of a left back and maybe a central defender.

It's still only the 16th though, so there is time yet.

The Jason Roberts Appreciation post

I love him.

He's just scored a corker of a goal to put Bolton 2-1 down on the 90th minute.

Bad news is Balckburn might not sell him now :-(

Also look at all the empty seats at the Shitbok!

Cheer up Jewellio

You lost :-P

Derby 0 - 1 Wigan

Sibierski came on as a super sub and scored with his first touch. Apparantly we should have had a couple more as we had some good chances plus one ruled out (which was a poor desicion from the officials)

Michael Brown was against Derby's new signing Robbie Savage. Ha! Me and mother were taking bets as to who would go for a nice early bath first, she suggested they'd both go together, Oooo-er! It wasn't to be though, as the red card plaudits went to Claude Davis, after he got a second yellow for giving Marcus Bent a crack round the head. Unlucky!

Would have been nice if Pompey could have won today tp keep us 3 points above the chasing pack at the bottom but they didn't. Rubbish! Blackburn are currently drawing with Bolton at the Reebok. Need Blackburn to win really to keep Bolton down here with us.

Bought part 1 of the first series of heroes yesterday so i'm looking forward to that, also i have become addicted to the Hills after watching it like twice. It's really hard to catch up though and the only way i can get it on DVD is to buy it region 1 from ebay and i don't know if my DVD player is multi region :-(

Live's in a house, a very big house in the country....

Well nearly.

After deciding that me and Chris are to rent for a year or two, i found the most perfect house ever. Lovely two bed house attached to a farmhouse in the countryside, loads of land for Max to play in. But it's gone, oh well. We'll find somewhere else.

According to my official Wigan calender yesterday was Emile Heskey's birthday. Happy belated birthday to you sir. Today we are playing Paul Jewells derby at Pride Park, Derby have lost something stupid like the last 16 matches and are quite clearly the worst Premierleague team ever. Hope we win today though, we've been doing so well since Steve Bruce took over.

We signed Wilson Palacios yesterday and he's gone straight into the match against Derby today. He's signed from Honduras club Deportivo Olimpia, but was on loan at Birmingham with Steve Bruce previously. He's signed for an undisclosed fee on a 3 and a half year contract. Hopefully he'll add something different to the squad.

Match report to follow.

Monday, 7 January 2008

It was nice while it lasted...

The FA Cup 4th round was drawn today. We've drawn Chelsea at home. Rubbish. I mean i'll probably still go (depending on the price) can't imagine the crowd being up to much though as it's live on the BBC at 5.30.

I did have to check myself today though. I've been bitching and moaning about the draw, and i just thought to myself "If this had have happened 3-4 years ago (which it didn't) we would have been over the moon and clambouring for tickets." How times change eh? Oh well we managed to knock Arsenal out of the Carling Cup at Highbury in the semi-finals. Stranger things have happened and all that.....

The magic of the cup

Sunderland 0 - 3 Wigan.

Saturday was the day of the third round of the FA Cup. I like the FA cup and it majorly pisses me off when clubs choose to devalue it or disrespect lower league teams by playing reserve teams (or even youth teams!). David Moyes i'm looking at you. He puts out a reserve team against Oldham and then when Oldham have the audacity to beat them he whinges and whines! Well done Oldham. I would like them away in the next round please.

Another shock occured at Ewood Park where Coventry beat/hammered a pretty good Blackburn team 4-1. Not a good day at the office for Mark Hughes! We're now being reported to be after Michael Misfud who scored 2 yesterday and is known as the Maltese Mosquito because he's so small, Bless! It's like Jorg Smeets and his size 3 feet all over again!

We got through to the next round pretty easily by all accounts, we had a few key players out, such as Sir Titus who served a one match ban. Emile Heskey played some of the match in his comeback from injury, and Josip Skoko got a run out. Our first goal came curtosy of Paul Scharner, and the own goal plaudits this week go to Paul McShane of Sunderland who's goal was actually pretty good. The contest was over when David Cotterill scored a great goal from outside the area to make it three. He did that stupid celebration too that Bent and Bramble have been doing lately, something to do with Soccer AM i'm told.

The draw for the 4th round is being made tomorrow at 1.30 which i think is stupid. It should be made after the last match has been played on the Sunday (like it used to be) I love watching the draw, seeing home teams being drawn out like Colchester and praying that out number isn't going to be drawn out next. Unfortunatly i'm going to have to wait for news on the internet due to being at work.

Titusssss!

This blog is dedicated to Titus Bramble.

Liverpool 1 - 1 Wigan

That is correct, i have not accidently slipped on the keyboard. Torres scored on 49 minutes to put us behind, before Titus Bramble equalised with 10 minutes to go. Can't believe we got a point at Anfield, i don't think we've ever taken anything from the top 4 ever. We are now out of the relegation zone too at the expense of Sunderland. Rumours abound today that Jason Koumas may be up for sale should an offer come in. Bet he's fallen out with Brucey. He started the season well but he just seems to have been dropped from nowhere. Bet we don't get 5.3 million back either *rollll*

Brrrr....

It's cold.

Not posted a blog in aaaaages, but it has been christmas so i have an excuse :-)

Christmas was really good. Got some amazing presents that i wasn't expecting including a Nintendo DS from my mum and an Ipod shuffle from my lovely Christopher. Had Christmas dinner at my dads which was scrummy and then i've basically been at chris's since with the exception of two football matches.

Match number 1 - Boxing Day - Newcastle (H)

What can i say? We won 1-0, a Ryan Taylor free kick proving the winner. We battered Newcastle, but as usual when we win, the other team were having a bad day and there's not a chance we would have beaten them other wise *rolls eyes* slightly forgetting that we have a good record against Newcastle. Lifts us out of relegation too :-)

Match number 2 - Saturday - Aston Villa (H)

After leading this one 1-0 for ages we lost 2-1. Most exciting part of the match was the goal of course, but even more exciting was that it was TITUS BRAMBLE!! who scored it! I love Titus, more of those to come i hope. I had been talking about putting money on him to be first goalscorer, wish i had now, bet he was summat stupid like 150-1! Apart from that we were shit. The pitch was really bad too which actually made it more fun to watch. Twas like the good (bad) old days. A few Villa fans were slipping and sliding all over the mud outside ala the Sunderland mud sliders (i'm sure there's clips knocking around the internet and soccer am show it virtually once a year, you have to see it if you haven't already. Hilarious!) And apparantly Gemma Atkinson was spotted outside the stadium at one of the burger vans buying a burger. Wish i'd have seen her.

So apart from that, done a bit of sale shopping and got some bargains. Biggest bargain i got today i reckon. Boots from topshop that should have been £80 but were knocked down to £30. I love sale shopping.

Saw in the new year playing Trivial Pursuit, i won. Whoop! I came from nowhere!

And today i've been back at work which is as shit as usual. Hardly seen a soul all day, but i have managed to get loads of my NVQ work done and apart from 1 statement i think i have a complete file ready to be submitted. yay!

But back to the football tonight we play Liverpool at Anfield, where we've no chance of winning, let's just hope we play well. The transfer window opened yesterday but we've been quite quiet so far. Heard a rumour from my mum today (hardly in the know ha) but apparantly we're after Darren Bent. Wonder if he'd play well with Marcus, not that we'll ever get him. can't believe Tottenham bought him for £18 million to sell him. Oh well hindsight and all that.....no, just plain stupidity!
